We are so excited to announce that the board of directors for Reaching and Teaching International Ministries has approved our appointment as missionaries to Ecuador! Here are a few reasons that we chose to pursue our call to the mission field through this particular organization:
First and foremost, we trust the godly wisdom, vision and guidance of Dr. David Sills, the founder and president of Reaching and Teaching. One cannot overemphasize the importance of trusting those you are serving with and to have Dr. Sills personally investing in us and ministering alongside us is a primary reason we chose to serve with RTIM.
The focus on pastoral training, discipleship and theological education. The stated purpose of RTIM is that it "exists to reach the peoples of the world through evangelism and by meeting the great need for deep discipleship, pastoral preparation, leadership training, and theological education around the world." My greatest passion and spiritual gifting is teaching the Word of God, and to know the great need for theological education and discipleship among so many church leaders around the world led me to focus on RTIM.
Our passion to serve in Latin America also factored into our consideration of RTIM. Heather and I have been on many mission trips to Latin America including multiple trips to Guatemala, to Mexico and Venezuela. We have so enjoyed the friends we have made in that part of the world and we were looking for a way to make Christ known by teaching in Central or South America.
Lastly, we had an opportunity to take a short term mission trip to Ecuador with RTIM in late April and this trip served to solidify our calling to pursue mission with this team. We thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship and fun we had with Dr. Sill and other RTIM missionaries Christopher and Carol Sill, Tony Steele, Jason Wright and Cody Whittaker. We know better than to travel across the world because we enjoyed hanging out with people, but we are certainly praying that God keeps all of these guys right where they until we can get on the field to serve with them!
Please pray for us as we go to support raising "boot-camp" next week before starting to build our support team in July. We are exciting to see where God leads from here, and we are so thankful that by His grace He has given us a passion for seeing His great name made famous to the ends of the earth.
